The project involved detailed site inspections to determine and record the current condition of all elements included in each Memorial including: stone and timber monuments, commemorative plaques, flag stations, interpretive signage, paving works, historical artifacts and bespoke artworks. CAS designed an installation methodology for the Pink Chairs with detailed site scoping and engineering specifications. However time became a factor in the project as it was discovered that on delivery the artworks needed to be completely stripped and repainted due to damage in shipping. The seats were made by manual arts students from Corinda High School and Centenary High School in 2004 and 2007, and feature design elements inspired by the history of the site as a once-working cement factory. Conditions to address included water-related damage to outer layers, footings and open end-grain to tops. After designs were approved work began in late 2024 to remove the previous slab, clean the sandstone monument and recondition the bronze plaques. With that completed, a new concrete slab, flagpole and light fittings were installed. CAS was contacted by Blue Sky View, Brisbane City Council's Public Art&nbsp; maintenance managers, to provide a full refurbishment of the paving, structural painting and interpretive panels for the memorial artwork. Due to water damage and playground restructuring they were removed from their original location in 2023, and once restored by CAS were mounted onto new steel stirrups and re-installed at the entry points of the refurbished playground in May 2024.<br /></div>]]></content:encoded></item></channel></rss>
